East Dunbartonshire Council Secondary Schools Framework

Through its public private partnership schools' capital investment programme, the InspirED-led consortium, with construction JV partners Morgan Ashurst and SPIE Matthew Hall, will design and build six state-of-the-art secondary schools over a two-year construction programme. The contract award – worth £100 million to Morgan Ashurst - follows financial close of a 30-year PPP led by consortium InspirED for East Dunbartonshire Council in 2007.

Morgan Ashurst’s sister company Muse Developments will develop the schools’ surplus sites for mixed-use commercial and residential accommodation.

The design philosophy applied to each school has been rooted firmly in the general principles applied across the project that there should be visual clarity in the building with the social hub forming the focal point of the school linking the teaching and learning spaces. The learning spaces have been designed to be as efficient as possible with flexibility of use, which is of primary importance for 21st century education delivery.
The East Dunbartonshire Schools PPP scheme is the fourth major education project Morgan Ashurst has recently secured. Work on all six sites which began in August 2007, is due for completion in 2009.
